Welcome! I am a scholar of sociolinguistics and applied linguistics specializing in language variation, contact, and Spanish and Portuguese in the U.S. 

I hold a Ph.D. in Iberian and Latin American Languages and Literatures/Cultures (Linguistics Track) from The University of Texas at Austin, where my research focuses on sociolinguistic variation, heritage language, and Spanish for the Professions.

My research examines morphosyntactic and prosodic variation in contact varieties, with a particular focus on Caribbean Spanish and its U.S. diaspora. More broadly, I explore how language intersects with migration, race, identity, and processes of linguistic and social change.

My work in applied linguistics bridges research and pedagogy. I teach Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian at UT Austin, integrating heritage language perspectives, critical applied linguistics, and digital humanities into my teaching. I am particularly committed to Spanish for the Professions, where I develop materials and pedagogical approaches that recognize and validate heritage varieties while preparing students to communicate effectively in professional contexts such as healthcare, business, translation, and law.
