About
Welcome! I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Iberian and Latin American Languages and Literature/Cultures at The University of Texas at Austin (expected 2026), specializing in sociolinguistic variation, heritage applied linguistics, Spanish & Portuguese in the U.S., and Spanish for the Professions.
I have been working on morphosyntactic and prosodic variation in contact varieties–mainly on Caribbean Spanish and its U.S. diaspora–with a focus on with a focus on how language intersects with migration, race, and identity.
In applied linguistics, my work bridges research and pedagogy. I teach Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian at UT–Austin, integrating heritage language perspectives, critical applied linguistics, and digital humanities. I am particularly committed to Spanish for the Professions, where I design materials and approaches that validate heritage varieties while preparing students for professional contexts such as healthcare, business, translation, and law.
